HP Hurricane: New Tablet From HP With WebOS

By On May 11, 2010No Comments

A few weeks ago we heard reports that HP has ditched all plans for the HP Slate because of power issues with Intel’s Atom processor and a Windows 7 operating system. New reports suggest that a new tablet from HP featuring WebOS (dubbed the Hurricane) will make its debut in the last quarter of 2010.

If these rumors bear any truth to them this upcoming tablet could be a force to be reckoned with and no doubt will rival the iPad. I am extremely excited to see what HP has planned for the Hurricane.

Specs are yet to be made public but my instincts tell me we will here about them soon.

The iPad is awesome and Apple have yet again outdone themselves.  I am sure you want to know how to   convert DVD movies to view on your iPad? Well this how to guide will show you exactly how to achieve that.
For starters, you need to convert the DVD to a format that is compatible with the iPad, which is MP4 (mpeg 4) or H.264 video. Don’t worry too much about the technical details, because the software will do pretty much all of the hard work.

Small Notebook Computers Are On The Rise

By Arto On June 23, 2010 No Comments

The modern world is practically based on and composed of a lot of technological inventions. We seem to be unable to do anything without technology. A clear example of the technical addiction is the use of the PC. So far laptops and notebooks are the latest achievements in the field of computers, and they are undeniably conquering more users every day. When discussing about laptops, which are also referred to as small notebook computers, we actually imply small PCs for flexible use. We can virtually retrieve all the basic components in laptops from desktops. Thus, laptops have a display screen, a built in keyboard, a pointing device replacing the mouse and a battery power source. The difference lies in the fact that all these components are to be found into one single unit that is also portable. The rechargeable batteries of laptops get their power from an AC/DC adapter and their capacity enables them to be functional for several hours. The very name of notebooks comes from the thin shape and small size of these computers. Laptops thickness seldom goes [...] Continue Reading…

Go Green — Use An Ebook Reader

By Arto On June 18, 2010 No Comments

If your love for hard cover books is still leading you to resist a portable ebook reader like Amazon’s Kindle, you may change your mind when you think about the ereader as a green gadget. Books, newspapers and magazines use a great deal of paper for production, and the paper and ink process can affect the environment in such a negative way. So looking at it this way, an ebook is an option to go green because this does away with tree cutting.Ebook readers use rechargeable lithium polymer batteries which are another benefit to consider. In comparison to similar accessories, nickel-based batteries, they aren’t as destructive, and your pocket will be grateful when you don’t have to spend every so often for batteries.Unfortunately, it is the way it goes, and with these positive features, a different set of issues follows. Our society relies heavily on technology, and to meet the needs, electronic companies are frantically producing new gizmos to offer people their much-desired tech fix. We pay good money for the current “in” thing, and don’t conscientiously dispose of our “old” electronic devices. Electronic waste isn’t likely to disappear, and honestly, it is piling up. Recycling isn’t hard, and [...] Continue Reading…

Buying a PC – Part 1

By Arto On May 28, 2010 No Comments

The most significant point of  buying  a new Custom PC is deciding exactly what you want it to do …..
A PC is just like a motor vehicle ….do you want to plough a field, or race in Formula 1 ?
You would not buy a tractor to race in Formula 1 , and a finely tuned racing car would be no good for ploughing your fields….
So start of by making a list of all the  factors  that you will be wanting to use it for ….internet, emailing, playing games, photos, video, design, accounts….the list could go on…also list what factors are important to you…ie: speed, noise, design, size, energy efficiency….
Then you need to be aware of what environment the PC will be used…is it for home, is it for  work ….if it is to be used in a business  situation  then it is much more decisive that the machine  can handle whatsoever you throw at it with ease, because if it struggles, or is a bit slow at the tasks you are asking it to do then it will ultimately  cost you money in lost man hours waiting for it to catch up….
Next thing to  work  on is your BUDGET…..
Now [...] Continue Reading…

iPad UK Review – Will the iPad out class the iTouch and iPhone?

By Arto On May 25, 2010 No Comments

My first impressions of the system are largely positive. Apple has as soon as again built a product that appears good and feels excellent within the hand, and also the familiar user interface, borrowed from the iphone and ipod touch, is perfectly suited towards the bigger display. The apple ipad whizzes along, opening applications, re-sizing internet webpages, and zooming in and out of maps almost instantaneously.
It’s a great, fun gaming platform, and it’s beautiful to view full-size internet webpages while searching the internet. Developers, no doubt, are currently rubbing their hands with glee concerning the apps and services they could tailor particularly for this device. The new touch-optimised iWork suite is beautifully realised, making it quick and easy — and, dare I say, fun — to piece collectively a spreadsheet or presentation. It also assists to elevate the apple ipad to more than merely a plaything. As Steve Jobs stated during his keynote, if you’re heading to create a 3rd category of system, between the smartphone and also the laptop computer, then it requirements to become better than either for certain duties.
In many locations, this really is accurate for that ipad — web browsing is a [...] Continue Reading…
